The purpose of Omushkegiskwew House is to provide safety, support and encouragement to abused women and their children and to any women in crisis.
While at Omuskkegiskwew House women work on their own individual needs. Whether a woman decides to return to her home or otherwise, we encourage her so that she can make her own decisions.
In consultation with mothers, we provide counselling for children because we recognize their specific needs.
Our shelter is staffed with experienced counsellors, 24 hours a day. Besides our residential services, we also offer non-residential counselling service and a crisis support program with continuing follow up support.
Omushkegiskwew House (MFRC) serves the following communities: Moosonee, Moose Factory, Fort Albany, Kashechewan, Attawapiskat and Peawanuck.
